Athlete's foot (foot ringworm)
- Usually appears during warm weather
- Mild scaling without other symptoms or severe scaling with an itchy, raw, painful rash between the toes and over the sides of the feet
- Fluid-filled blisters can also form
- Itchy, scaling, and redness that usually start between the toes
- Dryness, flaking, or blisters on the toes or soles of the feet
- Toenails that thicken and become layered or scaly and yellowish

Jock itch (groin ringworm)
- Develop frequently in warm weather
- Red, ring-like areas, sometimes with small blisters in the skin around the groin and over the upper, inner thighs
- Recurrence is common because the fungi can survive indefinitely on the skin
Scalp ringworm
- Highly contagious
- Red scaly rash that may be itchy
- May produce a patch of hair loss without a rash
Nail ringworm
- Fungus gets into the newly forming part of the nail, producing a thickened, lusterless, and deformed nail
- More common in toenails than on the fingernails
Body ringworm
- Produces a pink to red rash that sometimes forms round patches with clear areas in the centers
- Can develop anywhere on the skin
